Uganda

8733295745_8cVkp.jpgBeset by poverty, unrest, and corruption, Uganda is a country in need of strong, effective leadership. DAI Uganda works to meet this need, training people to become servant leaders for their ministry or workplace. Under the leadership of Nicholas Wafula, DAI Uganda facilitaties non-formal training thoughout Uganda and its neighbouring countries including Sudan, Rwanda, Togo, Benin and Burundi.

DAI Uganda is also working in partnership with Uganda Christian University to offer the MA in Christian Organisational Leadership. Just over 50 students have completed the course and there are another 100 students in the midst of their studies. One of the students, in commenting on the impact of the course said:

I can say that each of the courses has impacted me in a very special way; this has led to transformation deep within me so that I now do things differently. I look at the people I lead not as people that I should just boss around, but that these are people that God has entrusted me with so that I can help them unleash their potential and help them have a chance to be all that God has created them to be.

DAI UK has supported the work of DAI in Uganda by providing staff and continuing to provide staff to teach several of the cohorts of students studying for the MA course. John Rogers of DAI UK has facilitated the "Teaching and Learning for Impact" and the "Partnerships in Christian Ministry" courses with several groups. Jennie Collins, DAI Board Member and formerly International Director of Tear Fund taught the "Development and Social Change" course in August 2010 and DAI UK Chairman, Colin Rye taught the "Mentoring and Coaching" Course in March 2011.
